Course on Cryptocurrencies by American Experts

The program brought together international experts from U.S. law enforcement agencies and representatives of judicial authorities, aiming to strengthen capacities in digital investigations and financial tracking. The course was organised in cooperation with the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) of the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of the Interior, featuring instructors from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other authorities.
The course began with introductory presentations, followed by sessions on online drug trafficking and emerging cyber threats in the narcotics market. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, as well as their use in concealing illegal activities. The second day focused on practical aspects of cryptocurrency handling, including digital asset management, legal procedures in financial investigations, alternative cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, decentralised exchanges, and digital evidence preservation.
On the third day, participants explored investigative techniques in cryptocurrency-related cases, including digital asset seizure procedures and practical exercises. Experts delivered lectures on blockchain transaction tracing and cryptocurrency flow analysis, key tools in modern financial investigations.
The course enhanced participants’ knowledge and operational skills in combating contemporary forms of crime, highlighting the intersection of digital technologies and illicit drug markets. Such programs are essential for strengthening international cooperation and equipping law enforcement institutions to address emerging security challenges.
