Monitoring Survey regarding the Fundamental Values of Higher Education in the EHEA - Open platform for data collection from members of the academic community
As part of monitoring core values in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), an open public consultation has been launched for the academic community via an online survey.
The survey is a key element of higher education monitoring across all EHEA countries, in line with the ministerial conferences in Rome (2020) and Tirana (2024). It aims to gather information on the current state of fundamental higher education values, as well as examples of good practices, potential threats, and challenges in their implementation.
The survey is conducted within the NewFAV 2 project - New building blocks of the Bologna Process: implementing a common understanding of fundamental values, funded by the Erasmus+ programme. The project is coordinated by UEFISCDI (Romania), in collaboration with the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) and the European Students’ Union (ESU), with the European University Association (EUA) as an associate partner.
Within the EHEA, member states have agreed on a common set of six fundamental higher education values:

- Institutional autonomy
- Participation of students and staff in governance
- Public responsibility for higher education
