University of Applied Sciences in Criminal Investigation and Public Security Students Visit Gornja Bistra Special Hospital for Children with Chronic Diseases
Students of the University of Applied Sciences in Criminal Investigation and Public Security continue their humanitarian engagement through volunteering at the Special Hospital for Children with Chronic Diseases in Gornja Bistra. On November 20, 2025, first-year students of the professional undergraduate study programme in Criminal Investigation visited the hospital for the first time, spending time with young patients and gaining valuable experience in interacting with children and persons with disabilities.
In March, students returned to the hospital to participate in activities focused on social interaction and support again. These initiatives strengthen future criminal investigation officers’ sense of social responsibility and raise awareness of the needs of vulnerable groups in the community.
The hospital, located in the historic Oršić Castle near Zagreb, provides long-term care for children with chronic illnesses. Volunteering is highly valued, offering patients companionship and meaningful interaction, while fostering empathy and personal development among students.
